The Wadia 861 se CD Player: Technology or Art? -- Countless hours of attentive listening, a passion to sonically recreate the original performance, a love for music and engineering of minute details has resulted in Wadia's flagship Compact Disc Player, the Wadia 861se.  Combining musical sensibility with proven Wadia technology and innovation achieved a design that delivers unprecedented musical power. 

Building on the Wadia legacy, the Wadia 861se CD Player is startling evidence of the sonic performance and value possible with an integrated CD player.  

The Special Edition Wadia 861 se CD Transport --embodies markedly improved engineering precision on all surfaces, including the surface onto which the disk is pressed.  The newly designed aluminum and brass hybrid turntable provides significant sound reduction during disk rotation and has been stained green to absorb undesired diffused reflections.

To provide robust support for the turntable, the Wadia 861se CD Player uses a composite bridge composed of machined aluminum with a maximum thickness of 20 mm, and carbon-tool steel with a thickness of 5 mm.   The results?  Blacker backgrounds, pinpoint three dimensional images, and incredible resolution.

Optimized Filtering System - The Wadia 861se CD Player uses our patented DigiMaster™ filtering system with 24-bit capability. This DSP based software features user-selectable digital algorithms allowing optimization of sonic performance based on system matching and personal musical priorities. The 3 selectable algorithms upsample  digital information  to 32x  a CD's input rate (1.4112 MHz DAC sample rate), while differing in time and frequency domain characteristics. The algorithms include the latest version of Wadia's classic DigiMaster™  time-domain interpolation filter which is optimized to preserve subtle time and phase information critical to music reproduction, delivering robust sound with extraordinary image focus and re-creation of recorded space.

No Negative Feedback - Wadia’s patented Swift Current™ IC  performs sonically critical current-to-voltage conversion (I/V) with no negative feedback.

Cleaner Signal Path - Wadia’s DirectConnect™ Technology with Digital Volume Control allows the Wadia 861b CD Player to be connected directly to a power amplifier, bypassing the losses inherent in analog preamplifiers.

Eliminate Jitter - Wadia's proprietary ClockLink™ eliminates jitter-inducing clock transmission by locating the master clock at the DAC chips instead of the transport.
Full disc clamping CD mechanisms provide lower jitter and better sonic performance than conventional non-clamped designs.
