WADIA, a leading manufacturer of high-end digital audio products, is pleased to
announce the acquisition of UltraAnalog, a leading supplier of high resolution Audio D/A
Converters and related OEM products. UltraAnalog introduced the world's first 20-bit
resolution Audio A/D and D/A Converters in the early 1990's and has contributed greatly to
the success of numerous digital audio products offered by its OEM customers. The combined
technical contributions to digital audio reproduction by the two companies during the past
ten years are unsurpassed within the high-end audio industry.
UltraAnalog is best known for their DAC D20400-A 20 bit D/A Converters and their AES 21
Digital Audio Receivers, which are found inside Digital Processors and CD Players offered
by many high-end component manufacturers. More recently, the company developed the
low-jitter I2S-enhanced digital interface, first utilized in the Sonic Frontiers
Transport-3. UltraAnalog has also worked closely with their OEM customers to develop CD
Players, Transports, Digital Processors and Surround Sound Preamplifiers, many of which
have received worldwide acclaim for sonic excellence.
Since the introduction of the revolutionary Wadia 2000 Decoding Computer in 1988, WADIA
has continually expanded its worldwide reputation as the leader in sonic performance of CD
playback equipment. Wadia's list of innovations includes:
Patented DigiMaster filter system which preserves musically-critical phase and time information
First separate Digital Audio Processor
First high-end integrated CD player
First Audiophile-Quality Digital Volume Control
RockLok, ClockLink, and Carillon (Patent Pending) jitter-reduction technologies
Patented SwiftCurrent analog output circuit
"The unique technology achievements by UltraAnalog and WADIA provide an
outstanding backdrop for future development efforts." said Stephen Jeffery, CEO of
WADIA, "We are excited about our opportunity to build on this base and the potential
benefits to the consumer".
As president of UltraAnalog, Richard Powers stated, "While we will continue to fully
support our OEM customers, we are very eager to contribute to the development of new WADIA
products. We expect that the combined expertise of the two firms will result in
technically innovative products coming to market in the early part of 1999."
UltraAnalog, based in Pleasanton, California, will continue to operate within its facility
as a division of WADIA. WADIA's headquarters are located in River Falls, Wisconsin.
